A short history...

The Government department was allowed to work in secret, the decent citizens were in the dark about how they opperated, politicans were also in the dark, but also, they were afraid of the enormous power this department had, there was a need for what they did, but the methods they used were immoral, they destroyed familes, lives and many victims were scarred for life, but no one could stop them... the people lived in fear of this department, no one could make them accountable, they were answerable to no one but themselves...

Sound like CYFS? In fact, this is how the Nazi Gestapo operated... be afraid... be very afraid..
CYFStalk and CYFSwatch in the media...

I'm proud of the fact that CYFSwatch, and by implication CYFStalk has been reported all over the world for its stand against Child, Youth and Families Service.

However, it saddens me that this wolrd wide shame hasn't made our leaders take action and make CYFS more accountable.

When CYFSwatch made headlines in New Zealand because Peter Hughes said he would work 24/7 to close "that" site, it was reported on media sites and in newspapers all over the world...

Australia, Taiwan, Japan, Canada, USA, Argentina, South Africa, Spain, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, The Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, England, Scotland and Ireland.

In New Zealand, it was the subject of radio talkback shows, newspaper articles, TV news reports, current affairs shows and... every day discussion between ordinary Kiwi's. The TVNZ site ran a poll asking if the CYFSwatch site should be allowed to stay open, a massive 73% of people said YES.

It is clear that change and accountability is needed at CYFS, but the labour Government decided to ignore the problem, like they always do on most things.

CYFSwatch and CYFStalk exist to remind our leaders that they are still here, that they will not remain silent anymore, that justice is for everyone, not just a select few.

It is a fight we will win one day. We will not be silenced anymore.
